26 Nick Kynoch

kynochRecently appointed General Counsel at the FMA, Nick Kynoch returned from London where he was legal counsel responsible for contentious regulatory compliance at Barclays, a bank that faced a bailout by the British taxpayer after the GFC and the Libor interest rate debacle, and the new role gives him both a credibility and knowledge that is powerful, more so given his influential role within the FMA.

His knowledge and experience with risk and regulatory issues and the FMA’s expanded involvement in litigation and enforcement issues has provided him a powerful role as the country’s compliance regulations and enforcement has at last lifted its game to avoid the disaster seen following the finance company bloodbath after the GFC.

Under Rob Everett’s direction the FMA has developed seven business executive groups to provide greater efficiencies.
